What’s It All About, Alfie?
First, I want to say thank you for reading. Memo.ryecroft is a collection of notes on various bits of my life and other interestingness that I stumble across. I hope you find something that interests you.
I am currently an Oklahoma ‘architect’ living and working in New York City, so it would be safe to expect that themes of Gotham, architecture, urbanity and sustainability will be the primary influence on my writing. I’m also married to a wonderful woman – a trained photographer and graphic designer working in the fashion industry. Our shared obsessions with typography, grid layouts and clothing might also appear in these notes.
I hope that my background and current experience can offer up a unique perspective on life, architecture and other interests that cross my path. Those other interests currently include:
sketching; photography; Classic European sports cars; urban history, American history, and history in general; Miles Davis, classic country, film scores and big band/swing music; Vespa scooters and Triumph motorcycles; vintage bicycles; anything that Brooks Saddles produces; the word ‘urbane’; simplicity in everyday experiences; the hope of experiencing Paris and Copenhagen; English and French modernism; Italian futurism; pens and pencils by Kaweco; navy blue; gunmetal grey; pea coats; shaker style; old hardware stores; Ray-Ban aviator glasses; a well tailored suit and the perfect ensemble of shirt, jeans, and blazer; the crackles and hisses of an old record on a turn-table; enjoying the love of an amazing woman and the smell of perfume on her skin.
And now, more than ever, I don’t have “a plan.”
